The Sub-project of “Partnership for Chinese Market Readiness Multi-Donor Trust Fund Project Granted by the World Bank” Undertaken by CIFA was Successfully Concluded

On August 26, the sub-project “PMR-AF4B Climate Investment and Finance Development Environment Research” of “Partnership for Chinese Market Readiness (PMR) Multi-Donor Trust Fund Project Granted by the World Bank”, which was undertaken by CIFA of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, has successfully passed the final review. The final review meeting was organized by the PMR Project Office and attended by experts from institutions such as the Policy Research Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the CDM Center of the Ministry of Finance, Tsinghua University, the Capital University of Economics and Business and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

 

At the review meeting, the Research Group of CIFA submitted the report of the project results and reported the research results. China takes climate investment and finance as an important means to combat climate change, and aims to provide stronger support for addressing climate change through further unblocking and rationalizing the climate finance mechanism, promoting the innovation of climate investment and finance products and services, and building a favorable policy support system and market operating environment. The project focuses on the research of the development environment for climate investment and finance, and puts forward five specific tools and suggestions on promotion mechanism for improving the development environment for climate investment and finance, including the classification scheme of climate friendly projects, the assessment method of benefit of climate projects, indicators and frameworks for information disclosure of climate investment and finance, proposal for the promotion mechanism of assessment framework of climate benefit, and proposal for information disclosure mechanism of the climate investment and finance. The project results provide basic standards and tools for the improvement of climate investment and finance environment.

 

The leaders and experts at the meeting fully affirmed the results of the project. The reviewing expert group considered that all the achievements of the project met the requirements for conclusion, and unanimously agreed that the project should be concluded, and expressed support for the implementation of the research results of the project to further promote the development of climate investment and finance. CIFA will also be more focused on the research and development of climate investment and finance related policies, tools and standards in the next step, and continue to improve the development environment for China’s climate investment and finance.
